What is RGF93?
In Metropolitan France, the official geodetic system is the RGF93, which provides a precise reference mark for the whole country while adapting to modern technologies…
… Compatible with world references, the RGF93 is a component of the European ETRS89 system.
As part of the maintenance of national geodetic references, TERIA partner IGN has recalculated all the Permanent GNSS Network data for the period 1998-2019.
With an impact of less than a centimetre, these updates have been migrated without any interruption of service to ensure accurate and consistent results for your measurements.
A little history
RGF93 is the successor to the old French geodetic system, the Nouvelle Triangulation de la France or NTF. From the end of the 19th century onwards, this old process enabled landmarks to be materialised using angular measurements (more information on the IGN website)
When the GNSS system was deployed in 1989, it was clear that the NTF no longer met the needs of surveyors or topographic surveys. So the RGF93 was born.
The RGF93 provides practical access to a geodetic system.

Composed of 3 parts:
The Network is constantly expanding: 517 stations to date
You can find the list of stations on the official IGN website: http: //rgp.ign.fr/STATIONS/liste.php
These very minimal updates, with an impact of less than a centimetre, have been migrated without any interruption to service, so you can be sure of consistent measurement results for your surveys and layouts.
