The Order of French Expert Surveyors launches the 3rd edition of the eXpert GAME
Thursday 30 March marks the launch of the third edition of eXpert GAME, the Géomètres-Experts Business Game, with the support of TERIA, Géofoncier and Publitopex, subsidiaries of theOrdre des Géomètres-Experts.
Like last year, the event took place at the foot of the Eiffel Tower on the Diamant Bleu barge.
eXpert GAME 2023: what does this new edition have in store for us?
There were more students this year, with over a hundred young people from the three grandes écoles : ESGT, ESTP and INSA Strasbourg Topo competing in two events.
The first took place from 6 to 9 March, again in a digital format. The idea was to collect as many points as possible before the final clash with the test dedicated to case studies.
Over the course of an afternoon, the 17 teams worked on two case studies on the theme of “Reinventing the Eiffel Tower site in the run-up to the 2024 Olympics”
The first case study consisted in renaturating and greening a vast site stretching from the Place du Trocadéro to the “Terrasses de Varsovie”, via key locations such as the Iéna bridge, the forecourt of the Eiffel Tower and the Jacques-Rueff Place.
THE OBJECTIVE:
- To create 16,724 m2 of additional green spaces,
- To create 35,000 m2 of roads for different users, taking into account accessibility for people with reduced mobility (PRM),
- Plant 227 new trees.
The second case study involved designing a temporary Olympic swimming pool for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. We had to think about both its construction and its post-event transformation.
No mean feat! The challenge was to ensure that the pool complied with current standards. The students had to anticipate its transformation in the light of the challenges of saving energy and respecting biodiversity in order to limit its impact on the environment.
For 2 hours, the students had to think about how the chartered surveyor would contribute to these different studies. As last year, the teams were accompanied by geometer-expert coaches to guide them through these complex urban planning projects.
After the “four o’clock” break, the students got together by school to take it in turns to present their projects and select the most convincing.
Which school came out on top? Did ESGT retain its No. 1 status?
INSA Strasbourg was unanimously acclaimed
After lengthy deliberations,INSA Strasbourg finally took 1st place on the podium. Second place went to ESGT , followed by ESTP in 3rd place.
The jury was unanimous: the team representing INSA was able to integrate all the environmental constraints and standards imposed by the different projects. The participants came up with a creative and modern design, particularly for the temporary Olympic swimming pool.

INSA, the overall winner, received the complete PYX package from TERIA, worth €6,990; Géofoncier presented the BDE with a cheque for €700 and gift vouchers worth €200 per student.
2nd Place
ESGT won a laptop computer donated by Géofoncier. The BDE received a cheque for €500 from Géofoncier and Publitopex.
3rd place
the ESTP also walked away with a laptop computer donated by Publitopex. The BDE received a cheque for €300 from Géofoncier and Publitopex
