Virginio meets the sponsor TERIA at the Angoulême Comics Festival
Involved in various partnerships, TERIA is also present in the arts. For several years, TERIA has supported Virginio VONA, a humanist comic strip artist…
… Virginio is exhibiting his “Fenice” comic strips at the Angoulême Comics Festival. The publication of the third volume “Fenice, les ombres du temps” was entirely financed by TERIA.
How Virginio & TERIA met ?
The partnership between Virginio and TERIA was born of word of mouth. In 2015, thanks to a mutual friend, Virginio met TERIA’s Managing Director for the first time.
Shortly afterwards, he was asked to give a live artistic performance to mark the 10th anniversary of Exagone-TERIA at the headquarters of the Ordre des Géomètres-Experts. This was followed by another performance at the Ecole Supérieure des Géomètres-Topographes in Le Mans, a long-standing partner of TERIA. Other projects have followed, including the creation of a personalised birthday card, a work donated to the RAID in tribute to the victims of the 13 November attacks in Paris, and a live performance at the Gare de Lyon, which is now on display in the station itself….
Following these various artistic collaborations, sponsorship came naturally to the two companies, with the desire to convey strong human values through art.
A look back at the Angoulême Comics Festival
A real success for this year’s Angoulême Comics Festival.
This event was an opportunity for Virginio to promote the comic strip “Fenice, les ombres du temps” to a wider and more eclectic audience. This year, TERIA had the pleasure of accompanying him at this major event, which attracted almost 230,000 visitors. With human values at the heart of TERIA’s corporate culture, it was only natural to be present and to support this artist. TERIA’s commitment to various partnerships is an integral part of its DNA and enables us to create a real link with these different players.
“It was important to me that TERIA was there with me for this big event and made it possible. It means a lot to me
As an artist, this support is decisive in my artistic path.”
FENICE, alternative cyberpunk comics
In a world where corruption reigns supreme, human greed has overtaken reason. Evil is everywhere, and the prevailing insecurity is slowly drifting towards the order of chaos. No one can move from one world to another without getting lost..
Yet one man allows himself this possibility, a being who answers to no law. A wandering soul with no past, an immortal in search of his identity and his future.
His name is Fenice, a vigilante hero who will fight for fairness and freedom.
Fenice will be back in 2024 with a new album: Fenice et la peau du leopard.
This work was imagined by Virginio VONA, illustrator, and Iah-Hel, co-writer and scriptwriter.
“Fenice represents justice and humanism.”
His biography
Virginio Vona was born in Rome in 1969. Deeply attached to his roots, it was in his native city that he took his first steps in the world of art. He has always had a passion for drawing, and it was in the 1980s that his first works appeared: caricatures published in the Turin-based sports and cultural magazine Intrepido.
After five years at theFederico Cesi school of graphic design, two years at theComics International school of com ics and two years at theSan Giacomo art institute, Virginio perfected his art in the design and production of trompe-l’œil in Italy. In the 90s, he worked with the Fenix comics publishing house, producing 3 volumes of the Demon Story comic strip.
In 2000, he moved to the Val d’Yerres in France, continuing his artistic activity as a 3D and 2D computer graphics artist and illustrator. It was during this period that he began working in the field of architecture and later as a painter and draughtsman.
In 2008, he created the character of Fenice with writer and scriptwriter Iah-Hel (Frédéric GAFFIAT). This comic strip will be published in 3 volumes between 2010 and 2018.
A recognised painter, Virginio Vona is listed on Artprice and his name appears in the Larousse des peintres.
In 2014, his paintings and comic strip plates officially entered the private and public collections of the Musée du Centre International de Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême (CNBDI) and theArtothèque de Puteaux.
